Nexus research at LMU: Integrated approaches to sustainable development

At the Chair of Physical Geography and Nexus Research, Prof. Dr. Marianela Fader and her team investigate the interconnections between water, food, energy, and nature. Their goal is to understand these dependencies and develop sustainable solutions to global challenges such as food security, energy supply, and ecosystem protection. Using models and remote sensing, they analyze the impacts of climate change and land use on the nexus—both globally and regionally. The focus lies on identifying synergies and managing trade-offs to support integrated strategies for sustainable transformation.
